The Epoch has finally arrived (almost)! Due at the end of February, the first BlackHawk Level III Holster to fit weapons with lights other than the Xiphos Light, will be out. It will arrived first for the Glock 17/22/31, then the Glock 21, which will also fit the Smith & Wesson M&P Series weapons (look for this fit to come out in March). It will work almost the same as their current Level III Holster, but with no forefinger release along the side of the holster…leaving the thumb release only, which was surprisingly natural and easy from the very first time I unholstered the BlackHawk Grey Training Gun with a SureFire X300 light mounted on the rail. The hood purposefully stays forward to prevent accidental re-engaging when it may matter most, giving in only when the thumb release is depressed upon reholster. It also still secures the weapon with the all too comforting audible “click” upon holstering, so you can continue the task at hand, knowing that your weapon is secure until you can engage the hood lock.
